Medical college in Gazipur closed sine die

Pns: Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Gazipur was declared closed for indefinite period following a clash between the students and the employees of the college on Tuesday.

The college authorities asked the residential students to vacate their halls by 6 pm.

College authorities, students and police said, students of the college vandalised the x-ray room over a trivial matter on Monday. Following this issues, students locked into a clash with the outsourcing employees of the college on Tuesday afternoon, leaving several injured from both groups. As a result, the authorities declared closed the college for indefinite period. Principal of the college Dr Asad Hossain confirmed the news.

It is known that a student of the college took his mother to the x-ray room for x-ray examination on Monday. But a technician denied taking x-ray examination due to lack of doctor’s signature on the papers. This student informed the news to others students. Later, a group of students went to the x-ray room and vandalised the machines and furniture of the x-ray room.

Technician Shahin tried to protest them. At one stage, the students and employees locked into an altercation that triggered a clash. The students brought out a protest rally on the college campus against the irregularities of the college authorities.

On Tuesday noon, the both groups staged demonstrations. At one stage, it turned into a clash between them. On information, police rushed to the campus and stopped the groups from fighting.
