Pns: Questions of the ‘Gha’ unit of the Dhaka University (DU) admission test for session 2017/18 were allegedly leaked on Thursday night.

The English part (questions 1–24) of the question paper was leaked to a huge number of applicants through social media. This reporter found the applicants looking for the answers to the leaked questions on their smart phones before entering the exam hall.

This reporter also received a mail from a source at 3.19 am. The leaked questions were attached to the mail.

Rajkumar Joy, an applicant, told The Independent: “Most of my friends have got the questions and even some teachers helped their students get the leaked questions.”

Acting proctor Prof. M Amzad Ali claimed: “There is no scope of questions being leaked from DU. The admission test questions are prepared in a secured way, and we have not got any objection yet. If there is any proof of a question leak, we will investigate the matter.”

In all, 98,054 students took the admission test, and there were 86 exam centres on the campus and outside. Sixty-one students competed for each seat. The exam started at 10 am.

On the other hand, 15 applicants were arrested for fraudulence by using a wireless device. Two of them were DU students.

The arrested students are Mohiuddin Rana, second-year student of the DU physics department and also an assistant secretary of the central executive committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Abdulla al Mamun, first-year student of applied chemistry at DU, Nur Mohammad Mahbub, Forhadul Alom Rafi, Ishraq Hossain Rafi, Abdulla Al Mukim, Rishad Kabir, Assaduzzaman Minarul, Istiyaq Ahmed, Joy Kuman

Shaha, Rejwana Sheikh Shova, Masuka Nasreen, Tariqul Islam, Nasirul Hoque Nahid, and Miraj Ahmed.

Meanwhile, BCL expelled its assistant secretary Rana for 'breaking organisational discipline' after the arrest yesterday, according to a press release. A source at BCL said Rana was expelled from the organisation immediate after he was arrested over his alleged involvement in the question leak.

The CID will file a case against the two DU students who were arrested and connected with the fraudulence syndicate. The other applicants are being arrested and given a month’s jail term by magistrate Thouhid Elahi of Dhaka zone.

Prof. Sadeka Halim, dean of the social science faculty and the coordinator of the ‘Gha’ unit of the admission test, said: “We haven’t heard about the question paper leak. But if there is such a problem, we will not allow it.
