Pns: That Indian fashion has a global appeal, is a thing known, But, it is always interesting to see how style and inspiration that we call our own, manifests itself on the world stage, or in this case, the runways. For its Spring/Summer 2018 edition, Paris Fashion Week (that concluded on October 2), saw the India factor, too.

The models who made a mark

For model Dipti Sharma, it was a career-defining moment, as the young gun got a chance to make her international debut on the Paris runway, that too, for Balenciaga.

She closed the showcase for the Spanish fashion house.British Indian model Neelam K Gill is no stranger to international runways. She made news in 2014 for being the first Indian face to be a part of the Burberry campaign, walking for the legendary British label and starring in its campaigns, too. And, this time around, Gill made for a chic picture as she walked for L’Oréal, embraced by the beautiful backdrop of Arc de Triomphe.

She also got to hobnob with legends like Dame Helen Mirren.Handcrafted heritage of India

Delhi-based designer Rahul Mishra played with light, shadow, and lots of colour at Paris Fashion Week.

His show, Light In The Sky, featured motifs that reminded one of the innocence of a child’s colouring book. His showcase featured separates, dresses, ruffle details, patchwork and sheer detailing. His signature hand-cut three dimensional shoulders stood out in the collection.

Signature psychedelia

Manish Arora has now become a Paris runway staple, and his collections, too, feature colour play and motifs that are typical of the Delhiite. From rani pink and heart motifs to sequins and denim duets, his #readytolove collection exuded the psychedelia of all things disco-era.
